NHP Processing Technician

Position Description:
Provide husbandry and colony management support to a large free range Rhesus breeding colony as directed. Will help to monitor daily animal health and welfare while performing daily animal health observations, animal husbandry duties to maintain quality and health of breeding colony animals, to include: perform daily water checks, supply checks, and cage checks; provide appropriate food and water; perform cage changing and or cleaning as required; record animal health concerns per SOP and specified protocols.
Assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of Rhesus Macaques as assigned. Provide technical services directly supporting the NHP breeding protocols working in partnership with other staff members providing husbandry and technical support.
Must be available to work full-time for 1 week every 3 months. 128 hours available annually.
Position located in Morgan Island, SC.
Qualifications/Experience:
HS Diploma or GED is required with one or more years of related animal care experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
Salary/funding:
$16.50/hourly
Comments:
Must be able to make at least a 1 year commitment. Great internship opportunity for a university student.
