Position Description:
The Black Howler Monkey refuge is a rehabilitaion center for former pet monkeys. Volunteers help to run the center and have the following tasks: preparing food and carrying it to the monkeys in rehabilitation progress and the groups, that already have been rehabilitated and live free in different areas of the refuge, cleaning food plates and night houses, guarding the orphaned babies, helping with other farm work (guarding sheep, chicken, ducks).
Qualifications/Experience:
You should be reasonable fit, speak some Spanish (a beginner course in Spanish would do it firstly and the keeper can speak some English, too).
You should love animals and possess no fear of them.
Salary/funding:
There is no funding. Volunteers pay for 3 weeks (minimum stay) 500 Euros,for 1 month 600 Euros, for 2 month 800 Euros and for 3 month 900 Euros. For a stay longer than 3 months, you can make special arrangements with the volunteer coordinator.
Support
provided for internship/volunteer positions (travel, meals, lodging):
Meals and accomodation are provided. The accomodation is very basic.
Volunteers have to travel to the refuge by themselves, but it's easy to find.
