Position Description:
Alpha Genesis, Inc. (AGI) is an AAALAC accredited breeding and research facility. AGI maintains three large facilities in South Carolina including more than 5,000 primates. Interns are needed for our main facility at Yemassee, South Carolina. The internship will include hands-on training in clinical care for more than 1,000 old and new world primates and interns will participate in medical research that may include neurological, obstetric, or ophthalmic surgical procedures. Veterinary interns will assist in the performance of, surgical diagnostic tests, and help to maintain the health of the colony. Interns will work alongside clinical veterinarians, veterinary technicians and animal care workers.
AGI's summer veterinary program provides students with the opportunity to work closely with veterinarians in the Department of Veterinary Medicine. Participants in this three-month program gain practical experience in clinical practice techniques.This program provides students the opportunity to work side-by-side with AGI scientists during the summer months. Multiple opportunities are offered in the broad areas of scientific research.
Qualifications/Experience:
Current enrollment in a veterinary, pre-veterinary or biochemistry or biotechnology program.
Salary/funding:
This is a paid internship with a salary of $12.75 per hour for qualified individuals
