Bali office Coordinator

Position Description:
This position is based in Ubud, Bali, working in an existing office in a pleasant downtown location. Ubud is the cultural centre of Bali.

Tasks include:
· · Organize one major annual fundraising event in Kuta/Seminyak and smaller events in Ubud.
· Develop specific strategies and materials to raise awareness and activism within the international tourist audience in Ubud about the plight of the Sumatran orangutan. Develop campaigns aimed at the international community.
· Liase with SOS headquarters in UK and other SOS branches
· Gather, motivate and organize the local volunteer group
· Revive and develop the SOS education programme in Bali with semi-annual classes at international and Balinese schools in Ubud and also in the Kuta area as time permits. Develop a simple format for follow-up fundraising events organized by these schools.
· Develop and maintain contacts with local media. Publish regular articles detailing SOS programs, orangutan conservation issues and advertising events. Periodic radio interviews detailing the issues and TV coverage for fundraising events.
· Network with local NGO’s, government departments and the expatriate community in Ubud and Bali
· Coordination and supervision of merchandise production
· Follow-up on reports of primates in captivity
· Work in collaboration with SOS project headquarters in Medan. This may include fundraising and grantwriting for SOS Sumatra projects
· Contribute to the SOS Newsletter
· Various administrative tasks. e.g. Manage emailing lists

Qualifications/Experience:
The Bali Office Coordinator needs to be a mature and energetic individual capable of multitasking, working unsupervised, initiating and managing all of the above tasks. Good social, managerial and communication skills are essential.
Excellent knowledge of English required.
Knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia preferable.

Salary/funding:
The position is offered on a volunteer basis; the cost of visa extensions will also be covered by SOS.

Term of Appointment:
A commitment to work at least 4 months minimum.
