Position Description:
Working with a team, the animal care specialist 2 will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing primate housing and support areas ( kitchen, equipment, produce cooler, breakroom, storage areas, feed/bedding storage, and related areas );preparing and providing primate diets; reporting unusual behavior or injuries; and maintaining pertinent records or any other duties assigned by your supervisor. You will also be required to provide care to several other sanctuary residents that are not primates. There may be opportunities for individual projects based on level of education, time worked and experience as well as other opportunities for growth and development. This individual will be expected to work closely with other departments, including veterinarian staff and volunteer, to ensure the overall health and welfare of the primates. Assist with events and organized tours for guests. Your duties will also include training and educating new staff and volunteers as needed.

Entry level position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to work in a team environment, read and follow written and verbal instructions, and write legibly and accurately. Must have aptitude for the care and wellbeing of animals. Must have a valid drivers license and meet motor vehicle operation standards.
Experience with animals, including nonhuman primates preferred.

31 hours per week at $9.00 per hour starting salary. No benefits, room for advancement.
