Position Description:
Fundación Zoológica del Ecuador is non-profit organization in Guayllabamba-Quito, Ecuador. We are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of local wildlife but we also take care of wildlife confiscated from the illegal trade and that can not be released.
Volunteers work 5 days a week, for 8 hours a day, as needs dictate.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

*Daily care of the animals housed in the zoo: feeding, cleaning, enrichment.
*Assisting with any current construction projects as enclosure building/maintenance
*Cleaning and upkeep of clinic
*Assist with education programs at the zoo

The mission of the zoo is to provide the best life quality possible to rescued wildlife from illegal trade, and to diminish animal trafficking through educational programs.

Qualifications/Experience:
Volunteers do not require prior experience or qualifications in working with wildlife. Support and guidance will be provided on site. Volunteers need to be able to work in all weather conditions, and comfortable being on their feet for extended periods of time.

Speak Spanish (don't need to dominate it), or English.

Salary/funding:
No salary provided

The volunteer fee is:
1 month: 300 USD
2 months: 410 USD
3 months: 520 USD

Why do volunteers need to pay?
FZE is a non-profit organization that relies on visitors entrance, volunteer fees and charitable donations to fund its work. Volunteer fees are normally spent on food and medical supplies for the animals.

Support provided for internship/volunteer positions (travel, meals, lodging):
The fee includes: 4 volunteer identification t-shirts - 1 cap - A certificate of participation - and the meals at the zoo (vegetarian option available).

What does NOT include?
- Roundtrip transportation from Quito city to the zoo (negotiable).
- Accommodation
- Health insurance
- Activities outside the zoo
- Costs related to national or international flights, taxes or fees at airports or bus stations.
We can arreange for transportation from the airport in Tababela to Quito city at your arrival and departure.
