Program Description:
The Advanced Primate Behavior & Ecology course is for graduates of the MRC Primate Behavior & Ecology course and/or graduate students interested in completing master?s project fieldwork or doctoral pilot study and fieldwork at the La Suerte site with additional on-the-ground support and supervision. The course involves completion of a larger-scale independent research project focused on some aspect of primate behavioral ecology. Projects will be individually designed and completed by students with the support of the professor.

La Suerte Biological Research Station is a protected rainforest sanctuary operated by the Maderas Rainforest Conservancy, a conservation non-profit organization. The site contains mantled howler monkeys (Alouatta palliata), white-faced capuchin monkeys (Cebus capucinus), and Central American spider monkeys (Ateles geoffroyi). Primate studies have been ongoing at this site for 25 years.

Entrance Qualifications:
Completion of the MRC primate behavior & ecology field school, and/or undertaking graduate research at the site.

Tuition / Fees:
$2 400 USD for course registration fee, tuition, room and board at the La Suerte Biological Research Station, group transportation to and from San Jose, and an overnight trip to Tortuguero. Cost of flights, shared hotel accommodation on arrival and departure days, and meals in San Jose are not included.

Start + End Dates:
Session 2: June 24 (fly in) to July 17 (fly out) 2019; Session 3: July 19 (fly in) to Aug 14 (fly out) 2019.
