Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced Group Housing Supervisor (LAM) for our Safety Assessment site located in Reno, Nevada.

In addition to assisting department management in addressing unique and difficult animal care and welfare issues, the Group Housing Supervisor will also oversee the basic day to day care of laboratory animals, group housing facilities, and animal environments. Inspect the animal facilities and animal group housing environments to ensure that they meet acceptable standards. Submit work orders for improvements as necessary. Work with veterinarians to coordinate the treating of animals, administering prescribed medications, and collecting of data. Assist in the development, implementa­tion and delivery of depart­mental training programs; ensure that direct reports receive departmental orien­tation and necessary on-the-job training. Oversee main­tenance of group training manual and training records. Recommend short-range operating objectives, organizational structure of direct reports and staffing requirements. Assist in the development of a departmental plan for backup and succession of key technical personnel. Ensure optimum performance of group function. Recommend and implement techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities, and maintain state-of-the-art practices.

The following are minimum requirements related to the Group Housing Supervisor (LAM) position.

Bachelor?s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent in science or related discipline
2-3 years of related experience in a GLP environment with non-human primates and experience with research and investigative procedures, techniques and literature.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the education and experience listed above.
AALAS certification or other professional certification preferred.
Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work and meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of GLPs and animal care and welfare standards as defined by AAALAC, USDA, etc. required. Advanced technical and analytical skills; problem solving and leadership skills. Computer literate.
