SoBran is seeking a Veterinary Technician III to serve at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

OVERVIEW: Responsibilities of this position are that of a Veterinary Technician III for the NIH, National Heart Lung and Blood Institutes (NHLBI) Laboratory Animal Research Contract (LARC).

Primary duties may include the following:

- Understand and follow all SOP's and Quality Assurance Standards
- Provide patient prep, anesthesia induction and maintenance of rodents and large animals
- Provide pre and post monitoring of vital signs (respiration, heart rate, body
temperature, pulse, etc.) of animals scheduled for technical procedures
- Monitor health status of animals
- Administer clinical treatments as directed (Topical, PO, IM, SQ, IV, ID)
- Safely and correctly handle and restrain animals for observation and procedures
- Maintain laboratory equipment and technical support areas
- Calculate doses and administration frequencies
- Always think safety first when performing daily duties
- Perform all technical procedures in accordance with federal and facility policies
- Work independently and interact with all levels of the organization
- Maintain accurate records of technical procedures
- Participate in weekly staff meetings
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management

Schedule Requirements: All employees are expected to perform their duties as assigned, arrive to work at 7:00 am and depart at 3:30 pm M-F. You will be required to work on the weekends as scheduled. In addition you will be expected to work extra hours during an emergency situation or if any unexpected situation arise until work is completed.


- B.S. degree in biology, animal science, or similar discipline preferred
- Associate Arts Degree in Veterinary Technology
- Excellent communication skills and accurate lab record keeping a must
- Minimum of 5 years? experience in a laboratory animal research environment
- AALAS Certification at the LATG Level (or achieving this certification within 1 year of
