Education Manager

Position Description:
The Education Manager will be responsible for leading BNF's Education Division, including development, implementation and evaluation of school and non-school programmes, and special events. The successful candidate will supervise and manage a team of education staff and volunteers, and work closely with BNF's Education Advisor to prepare the annual strategy plan and assess the impacts of education initiatives as well as contributing to the creation and development of new activities and projects.

This person must have excellent inter-personal, organisational and time-management skills, and problem-solving abilities. The applicant should have proven long-term experience in the education field and a strong commitment to, and enthusiasm for, environmental conservation and sustainable development. Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English, and the ability to work well in a team, but also independently, are key requirements.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Supervise and manage the Education Team to develop and conduct educational activities and events in line with the education strategy plan and specific objectives, methodology, activity description, and materials/resources needed;

Work with the BNF Education Advisor and Education Team to define the objectives and annual strategy plan for the Education Division and ensure these objectives are in line with BNF's vision and mission;

Coordinate the BNF Education Team and ensure they have the support, training and resources needed to fulfil their tasks and to produce high quality outputs;

Ensure the Education Division impact analysis is properly implemented and aligned with the annual work plans;

Lead weekly Education Team meetings and represent the Education Division at internal and external meetings;

Contribute and compile the Education Division update reports for internal purposes and for project donors;

Work closely with the Education Team to develop teaching materials and educational resources to distribute locally and internationally;

Work closely with BNF's Partnerships Manager to seek international and local funding opportunities to support education outreach;

Develop new collaborations with local stakeholders (including NGOs, schools, communities and governmental agencies) and international organisations/schools;

Manage the division's budget, keep detailed records of expenses incurred and submit monthly expenses reports to the BNF Finance Team.

Minimum 3 years' experience in an education project, preferably environmental education;

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in managing teams and leading groups;

Experience in project assessment and impact evaluation;

Excellent education skills with young people;

University degree in a relevant subject (science or conservation background will be considered);

Good spoken English and Indonesian languages;

Excellent analytical, organisational and time management skills and problem-solving ability;

Displays initiative, proactive and creative;

Able to work in the forest.

Term of Appointment:
One year (extendable upon agreement by both parties)
