Urgent! Summer field assistant needed in Corrientes, Argentina for howler monkey research project (Alouatta caraya)

Position Description:
This study will investigate the associations between the microbiome of the black and white howler monkeys (Alouatta caraya) and secondary metabolites of plants present in their diets.

Responsibilities of the assistants would include fecal sampling, collections of plant material (such as leaves, etc.), processing of the samples, daily behavioral observations, and data entry.
The conditions in the field can be rough and the whole day will be spent in the forest (from early morning until sunset). Field assistants must be willing to work as a team and demonstrate skill in leadership positions.

This position is a great opportunity for someone who wants more field experience before graduate school, as they will learn several field methods relevant to the study of animal ecology.

Qualifications/Experience:
Qualifications include:
1. Being physically fit and prepared for fieldwork conditions (rain, mud, cold weather)
2. Be excited to work in teams and learn from others
3. Have a background in biology/anthropology/zoology/veterinary or a related field.
4. Be interested in primate behavior, ecology, and conservation.
5. Be hardworking and reliable, follow the working hours during the week.
6. Enjoy being outdoors in the forest and with animals
7. Basic knowledge of Spanish is preferred

Salary/funding:
No salary will be provided, however all accommodations, food, and ticket between Buenos Aires to Corrientes will be covered by the project. Assistants will be responsible for airfare/transportation to and from Buenos Aires.

Support provided for internship/volunteer positions (travel, meals, lodging):
Lodging, ticket between Buenos Aires-Corrientes, and meals will be covered by project.
