Position Description:
Responsibilities include the following:

May oversee some aspects of the daily operations of the unit of behavioral management including the scheduling of social introductions and the maintenance of related record keeping. Serves as a resource in the management of social introductions and in additional aspects of behavioral management. Supervises the administration of special behavioral interventions for quarantined animals. Ensures that the facility complies with federal regulations for care and maintenance of research animals. Responsible for assisting the Unit Manger in training and supervision of Enrichment Technicians. May act as Unit Supervisor when Unit Manager is absent. Provides input for management of Behavioral Management (staffing and practices). Performs a variety of tasks relating to the implementation and maintenance of the behavioral management program for nonhuman primates and other laboratory animal species as directed by the Primate Enrichment Manager. Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific cautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents. May be designated as essential personnel during a storm/natural disaster.

Minimum Qualifications:

* A Bachelor's Degree with a background in behavioral sciences and four (4) years of experience in laboratory animal care

* A high school diploma or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in laboratory animal care plus AALAS LAT certification

* A high school diploma and eight (8) years of experience in laboratory animal care

* This position may involve assignment to work in Biosafety Level 3 containment areas, in which case there will be additional minimum requirements including some or all of the following:
Must pass a US Department of Justice Security Risk Assessment for access to select biological agents and toxins.
Must have the ability to perform job duties while wearing respiratory protection
Must participate in drug and alcohol program and be in compliance with TNPRC drug and alcohol policy

Desired Qualifications:

* Experience in an ABSL3 environment
