Position Description:
I am looking for a position working with African Apes as part of an ongoing conservation project. I am interested in all aspects of a working conservation project including research, rescue and rehabiliation of apes leading to retirement or reintroduction, as well as community engagement and ecotourism. Ideally I would prefer a permanent position, though a long term position is definitely something I will consider.

I enjoy both leadership and team roles and prefer locations that are of a simpler lifestyle and a more remote location. I am unabke to do voluntary positions and am looking for something with a small salary, but projects with a monthly stipend will definitely be considered.

Educational Background:
2.1 Bachelors degree with honors in Zoology
A levels in Biology, Chemistry and French
As levels in sociology and physics
12 GCSEs

2 week research training workshop with the Max Planck Institute before embarking a 12-18month field manager position

Attendee of the 2013 International Animal Training Conference at Twycross Zoo

Qualifications/Experience:
1 year working as a field site manager with the Max Planck Institute as part of the cultured chimpanzee project,

2 years as primate keeper with small primates and gorillas at Chessington Zoo. Hand reared orphaned spider monkey infant and successfully reintroduced it back to the natal group. Designed and implemented extensive training programme for welfare improvement for all primate groups and trained team members on training techniques. Setup a coltan awareness and recycling campaign.

2 years as great ape keeper at Twycross Zoo working with all four species of great ape. Hand reared an abandoned bonobo infant, and successfully reintroduced it back to the family group.

1 year voluntary work at South Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary.

2 months voluntary work with Communidad Inti Wara Yassi, working with rescued big cats and primates.
