Position Description:
This individual will work in the Behavioral Services department helping to improve the well-being of nonhuman primates at the facility. Duties include socializing nonhuman primates, monitoring the behavior of nonhuman primates and making recommendations to veterinary and colony management personnel, and collecting behavioral data. Duties may also include planning enrichment strategies for nonhuman primates, and preparation and provision of enrichment. The individual will keep and review written and computer-based records, and summarize and analyze data. The individual will also participate in annual training seminars for departmental staff. The individual will be working in the Behavioral Services department.

OTHER: This is a full-time salaried (exempt) position. Texas Biomed business hours are Mondays through Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Texas Biomed is committed to a drug-free workplace. Pre-employment drug screen is required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Required: Bachelor?s degree in anthropology, psychology, zoology, or related field. One year experience with animals. Good organizational and computer skills, good oral and written communications skills, and the ability to work independently. Preferred: Course work in primatology preferred. Experience with nonhuman primates highly desirable. Experience with behavioral observation and data collection with nonhuman primates.
