Sun Yat-sen University was established in 1924 by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of modern China(SYSU, http://www.sysu.edu.cn/2012/en/index.htm). After 90-plus years of development, the University has fostered an exceptional learning environment and school spirit, and has laid a solid academic foundation across a wide range of disciplines, including the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, and medical sciences. SYSU has become a top-tier comprehensive research university recognized both at home and abroad. As of this year, eighteen disciplines at the University rank in the top 1% worldâ??s universities (ESI 2016), tied for second most among universities in China. According to the Times Higher Education World University Ranking for 2010-2011, Sun Yat-sen University was ranked in the top 200 in the world.
Anthropology Department of SYSU is the largest anthropological institution in Asia, including >60 faculties of cultural anthropology, archaeology, linguistics and bio-anthropology (primatology). It is located in Guangdong Province, an area neighboring Hong Kong and Macao, which is at the forefront of China's reform and opening up.
Anthropology Department of SYSU invites applications for a Post doctoral scholars in Biological Anthropolgy. The appointment will be affiliated with The provincial key lab of primate and human evolution in SYSU. The focus of research is open, but we are particularly interested in applicants with research experiences in the area of primate behavior and ecology. We seek a self-motivated candidate that can work independently but also function well as a member of a team.

Qualifications/Experience:
Ph.D. in anthropology, biology, ecology, zoology, bio-geography or other related field by the time of position start date
Preferred qualifications: previous experience with primates, humans, or other social species; ability to travel internationally and function in field conditions; competency with Microsoft Access; excellent verbal and written communication skills. It is expected the applicant is ess than 35 years old.

Salary/funding:
Remuneration for post-doctoral scholar is 219000 RMB per year (ca. 33139 USD per year at current exchange rate), which include Salary and Insurance.

Support provided for internship/volunteer positions (travel, meals, lodging):
The invited post-doctor may apply dormitory of SYSU University with same renting rate with faculties. SYSU University will cover 50% of the rental fee for the 2 years. The University will issue documents for visa of the professsor and his family (wife, children).
Postdoctoral scholar of SYSU is qualified to apply for "NSFC Research Fund for International Young Scientists (Average budget is 400000 RMB/60500USD for two years, 200000 RMB/30000 for one year, 30% of applicants received the fund); and to apply for China Postdoctoral Science Foundation ( 50000RMB/7500USD or 30000RMB/4500USD; 35% of applicants received the fund);

Term of Appointment:
for 2 years, and possible to extend for another 2 years

Comments:
The invited post-doctoral scholar need neither teaching lectures nor having Chinese language ability. Anthropology Department requested the invited scholars to publish 2 peer-reviewed papers in two years, such as AJP, IJP Primates, PlOS-one or else. IF is not specifically required.
