Position Description:
We are seeking a motivated and intelligent person to support ongoing and planned behavioral, pharmacological, and biochemical/pharmacokinetic work in macaque and vervet species. The applicant must have direct research experience with at least one primate species and be skilled in compliance training for blood collection in conscious monkeys. The candidate may have any level of education/certification, but direct experience working with monkeys is required.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary laboratory team led by Dr. Todd M. Myers working at the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (our nation?s center of excellence for medical chemical countermeasures research, development, and testing). The USAMRICD is a state-of-the-art facility with approximately 50 PhD-level scientists in disciplines ranging from chemistry and biochemistry to toxicology, psychology, physiology, neuroanatomy, and neuroscience. The USAMRICD is located on a 12 square mile campus situated in the scenic inner Chesapeake Bay, approximately 25 miles northeast of Baltimore, Maryland.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on a multitude of projects in a variety of species ranging from mice, rats, and guinea pigs to ferrets, mini-pigs, African green monkeys, cynomolgus macaques, and rhesus macaques. This position will also provide the candidate with extensive opportunities to publish original research papers and learn new skills.
The initial period of performance is for 1 year, renewable up to 5 years. Pay is very competitive and will be commensurate with experience and education. Reimbursement for moving expenses will also be provided.

Qualifications/Experience:
Direct experience with conscious compliance training of non-human primates, preferably in a laboratory research setting.

Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Any education level is acceptable (e.g., Bachelor's, Master's, Post-Doctoral).

Salary/funding:
Very competitive and commensurate with experience and education.

Term of Appointment:
One year initial appointment, renewed annually for up to 5 years.
