Position Description:
Mindy's Memory Primate Sanctuary is a non-profit organization dedicated to the lifetime care of monkeys rescued from biomedical research, the pet trade, and roadside zoos. We are now recruiting for monkey caregivers to join our team as we build the sanctuary into a fully accredited facility. We are looking for dedicated people who want to be a part of a team that cares strongly about animal welfare and strives to make a difference in our residents' lives.

Monkey caregiver duties include, but are not limited to:

-Preparing and serving diets
-Cleaning indoor and outdoor enclosures
-Working with team members to capture monkeys for medical interventions
-Providing enrichment
-Monitoring the physical and emotional well-being of each monkey resident
-Grounds Maintenance
-Maintaining and repairing enclosures
-Working on outreach campaigns promoting the sanctuary at social events by tabling, etc.

Caregivers must live on-site (see below) and are expected to participate in an overnight rotation schedule where they are required to stay on site after work hours for a minimum of two days per week as part of their job requirements and respond to emergencies if necessary.

Qualifications/Experience:
-Experience in animal care required, preferably with primates
-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
-Ability to work in hot and humid environments. Oklahoma in the summer can see temperatures reaching 100 degrees daily. In the winter, temps are cool, sometimes reaching freezing from December-February
-Ability to get along with others and work as a team
-Highly motivated
-Can follow directions and sometimes work independently

Salary/funding:
Wages are $9/hr. A 90-day trial basis with a review at $8.50/hr is first required. As part of the on-site team, rent, and corresponding utilities are included in the benefits package.

Term of Appointment:
A minimum one year commitment is required.
