1. Rescue, rehabilitate and release wildlife rescued from the illegal bush meat and pet trades, and ensure high quality animal husbandry standards and veterinary care for all animals.
2. Help secure the long term survival of threatened and endangered species native to Cameroon through conservation education and alternative employment programmes to hunting for the local community.

Short term vet volunteering for 1 week to 3 month: This programme is ideal for vet students and vet graduates to gain valuable experience working with endangered primates.

Long term vet volunteering for at least 6 months: We provide two long term vet volunteering positions per year. It?s only open to graduate vets with some experience. An interview will be required.

Our veterinary team consists of two veterinary surgeons and a nurse/laboratory technician. The clinic currently has a basic field laboratory with parasitological, haematological, and microbiological capacity. Volunteer veterinarians work in the clinic and become part of our veterinary team for the duration of their stay.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in the field of conservation medicine whilst gaining invaluable practical experience working with endangered Central African wildlife species.

Currently Limbe Wildlife Centre cares for Western Lowland Gorillas, Central and Nigeria-Cameroon Chimpanzees, drills, mandrills, baboons, several species of guenons and mangabeys, as well as various non-primates.

We are always looking for dedicated, hard-working volunteers to improve the lives of the animals under our care!

For all positions we do request a copy of your CV, as well as two recommendation letters.

For short term volunteers (less than 3 months). The programme is open to student vets and also graduated vets all year round.

For long term volunteers (for at least 6 months). There is only two places per year and it's open only for graduated vets with some experience. An interview will be conducted.

For short term volunteers: a donation of 250 euro/week covers lodging, house security, cleaning and lunch on work days. All of the funds raised by the volunteer programme go directly towards supporting the animals under our care and to pay for volunteer costs (housing, etc.).
