Mindy’s Memory Primate Sanctuary:
Is an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization located in Newcastle, Oklahoma. It was founded in 1992 and today is home to approximately 90 monkeys. The founder is retiring and the organization is transitioning to a new management structure and understanding of the primate sanctuary community.

Operations Manager
Responsible for providing leadership, and creativity in overseeing the daily animal care, daily administrative requirements and long term operations of MMPS. In addition to the specific tasks enumerated below, he/she must maintain a big picture view of organizational operations. The OM is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and excellence of all MMPS operational practices and works closely with the Interim Executive Manager to monitor relevant performance measures.

Animal Care Management
• Work with Interim Executive Director and the Supervisor of Animal Care to establish appropriate protocols for animal care and animal care staff.
• Establish and maintain veterinary relationships necessary to provide for 24/7 services.
• Work to improve housing and care of animals currently housed at MMPS.
• Respond to requests regarding primates in need of rescue and plan for incoming animals and their housing and care.

Human Resource Management
• Staff Development -- Recruitment, Selecting, Hiring, Training, Induction, Orientation, Evaluation, Discipline, Promotion and Layoff.
• Volunteer Program Development -- Recruitment, Selecting, Hiring, Training, Induction, Orientation, Evaluation, Promotion, Discipline, and Layoff.

Financial Management
• Oversee budget and ensure timely and accurate financial reports.
• Control expenditures, monitor cash flow, accounts payable, and income & expenses.
• Serve as MMPS Bookkeeper “controller” in relations with accountant, Board, creditors, etc.

Facility Management
• Track, schedule and follow up on construction, maintenance, & repair issues.
• Regular inspection of facilities, grounds and equipment to ensure that all are maintained in good condition and attractive appearance.
• Supervise facility maintenance.

Miscellaneous Administrative
• Establish protocols for safety concerns for all aspects of the organization (staff, volunteers, visitors, independent contractors, etc.)
• Work with insurance agents to ensure that benefit and other policies are appropriate.
• Monitor suitability and sufficiency of IT, telephone system, and other technologies.
• Monitor all policies and procedures for adequacy and update as needed.
• Manage other administrative matters as they arise and work with Directors of Animal Care and Outreach as appropriate on implementation.

Should include strong proven management experience and some animal welfare experience preferred. We are looking for very special people; we need happy and healthy people to work in a dynamic environment. Must be friendly and have good communication skills, work well with others and have the ability to lead others as well as follow. Must be even-tempered and down to earth. Must also be willing to make at least a one-year commitment and provide your own health insurance.

Commensurate with experience ($20,000 to $40,000). A 4-month probation period is required to properly train and evaluate.

Term of Appointment:
4-month probation period leading to permanent position
