Field manager, Chacma Baboon Social Behavior and Physiology, South Africa
Barnard College, Columbia University; Queens College, CUNY
We are looking for a long-term field assistant who will also act as a field manager of an ongoing project on chacma baboon social behavior, stress and reproductive physiology.
Primary responsibilities will be the collection of behavioral and demographic data, monitoring of group movements and human-baboon interactions, collection and processing of samples for hormonal analyses, data entry/management, oversight of short-term volunteer field assistants, and regular communication with principal investigators.
This is an ideal position for someone who wants to gain additional field experience in preparation for a graduate program in biological anthropology, animal behavior, or related fields.

Accommodation and living expenses will be covered by the project, pending successful completion of an initial training period (4-6 weeks). Airfare will be refunded upon completion of the commitment period.
Term of Appointment:
June/July 2013 for one or two years
