Higher Education & Research Officer
Bristol Conservation and Science Foundation
The Bristol Conservation and Science Foundation (BCSF), based at Bristol Zoo Gardens, undertakes original research to guide and implement conservation action for wildlife worldwide, and engages actively with the public and scientific community, sharing knowledge, eliciting support and guiding behavior change.
BCSF and Bristol Zoo run a number of Higher Education programmes in collaboration with the University of the West of England, the University of Bristol, and South Gloucestershire and Stroud College (www.bcsf.org.uk/bcsf/higher-education-courses#). Our HE provision is increasing, and we are thus looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our existing research and HE staff in July 2013. Your role will be crucial in helping us deliver excellent Higher Education programmes.
Your main responsibilities will be teaching students at FdSc, BSc and potentially MSc level on different programmes focussing on wildlife ecology and conservation, including setting and marking exams and coursework and leading modules; and to supervise and mark students’ research projects/dissertations at BSc and MSc level. In addition, you will be required to write up BSc and MSc projects as peer-reviewed scientific journal articles. Another key task of the role will be to help coordinate schemes of work, module handbooks and course material for our FdSc Integrated Wildlife Conservation.
