Position Description:
The Birmingham Zoo is seeking applicants for a full time keeper position on the Primate Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing animal care, monitoring animal health, maintaining cleanliness of animal areas, providing enrichment and training, diet preparation and exhibit modifications. The desired candidate should have a practical understanding of operant conditioning and extensive knowledge of animal enrichment as it relates to the daily management and research of the species in their care. Qualifications/Experience:
Requirements for this position are:
High school diploma or equivalent ( B.S. in Zoology or related field preferred)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with
Non- Human Primates
Strong communication and organizational skills
The ability to work well with others in a team environment as well as work independently
Strong work ethic and a “can do” attitude
