Position Description:
Position available: Long term primate carer

You will be responsible for all aspects of primate care as outlined below.

• Food preparation and feeding

• Distributing supplements, primate pellets and conducting “checks” on the primates

• Cleaning and maintaining the enclosures

• Enrichment

• Observations and monitoring

• Recording behaviours and concerns in the daily observation book

• Rescues (collections etc)

• Introductions of new comers or sanctuary monkeys

• Hand rearing, when necessary

• Transporting primates to the vet, when necessary


Procedures

• Any concerns regarding the health or welfare of a primate must be reported to Sue immediately.

• Any information you believe would be helpful to the health of welfare of the primates must be discussed with Sue prior to mentioning it as a fact to long or short term volunteers. The information will be discussed with a professional before any changes are made.

Qualifications/Experience:
No qualifications are required but the suitable candidate will be hard-working, motivated, driven and will have an interest in primates or animal care

Salary/funding:
Voluntary with food and accomodation included

Support provided for internship/volunteer positions (travel, meals, lodging):
food and accomodation included

Term of Appointment:
1 year with 1 month probabtionary period and 5 weeks holiday
