Position Description:
AAP is a European rescue centre and sanctuary for primates and other exotic mammals. Based in the Netherlands, we house animals from all over Europe. They have been confiscated, abandoned or offered by private owners as a result of illegal trade, were being exhibited in illegal zoos or used in biomedical research or the entertainment industry.
You will primarily help in the rehabilitation process of these rescued and mostly severly traumatized chimpanzees in activities like food and enrichment preparation and other animal kitchen related activities.
Dependent on your qualification, experience with primate/Chimpanzees, vaccination status and duration of stay with us further responsibilities in working with animals may apply.
Qualifications/Experience:
-You are available for at least 3 days a week
-Are committed to atleast a minimum duration of between 1-3 months.
-You are physically and Mentally fit and are capable of physical duty.
-Willing to work on atleast one of the weekend days (Saturday or Sunday).
-You are committed to the hands-off protocol.
-Capable of working according to strict hygiene and protocols/Standard operating procedures.
-Are able to communicate in english.
-Are flexible and posses socail skills.
- Vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B are desirable, but not Mandatory.

Support
provided for internship/volunteer positions (travel, meals, lodging):
-The Sanctuary will provide you with Shared Bank Bed accommodation at the AAP House in Almere Free of Charge.
-Transport Costs too and from the sanctuary and limited to the Netherlands will be re-imbursed.
-All lunch and tea/coffee breaks, while on duty at the sanctuary are also free of charge.
-You will be insured against work related accidents.
