Animal care
Date Posted:
2009-08-22
Position Description:
Assistant to feed and look after animals before they are released from the sanctuary to their natural environment
Educational Background:
I am a guatemalan Attorney at Law with a Master Degree in Intellectual Property.
I have worked at civil court rooms, law firms and independently.
Right now I live and work in Antigua Guatemala, doing my legal work and also running a restaurant-pub which I co-own with my brother.
I do legal pro-bono work for AWARE (ngo shelter for dogs and cats in Sumpango, Guatemala, run by Xenii Nielsen, which you can check online) and basically, are all the time helping animal causes, collecting money for this purpose, fighting cruelty towards animals, opposing the bull fights, dog and rooster fights, which unfortunately still happen in my country, among other activities.
Qualifications/Experience:
I have done legal work since 1990 before I graduated from Law School and after that, up to date. However, I've loved animals my entire life and have had dogs as pets almost all my life. I also have been fascinated with primates, specially with orangutans, but have no experience whatsoever with them, except for watching and admire those I have seen at many zoo's and documentaries.
I'd love to trade everything I do and have at the moment, for an opportunity to work with these animals. I'm 42 years old, divorced with no kids, willing to learn as much as possible about these animals, through assisting who ever feeds them and takes care of them while they're at the sanctuary. I do have the energies, the health and the possibilities to do this, won't wait 'til I'm 50 or 60 years old to it.
Application Deadline:
January 2010
