The Howard Hughes Medical Institute conducts scientific research in leading academic medical centers throughout the United States. An exciting opportunity exists with a lab in the Neurobiology Department at Harvard Medical School. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to assume a Lab Manager position for a group studying how the visual world is represented in the cerebral cortex and in particular how cortical representations change when attention is shifted from one part of the scene to another. Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of this growing lab, planning for both short and long-term needs, maintaining and ordering supplies and equipment, monitoring budgets, orienting and training new lab members and ensuring laboratory compliance with applicable safety and other regulations. The successful candidate will serve as the key liaison with administrative and facilities offices at Harvard Medical School and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
Additionally, the position involves working with non-human primates. Responsibilities include animal training, animal care, performing surgeries, and working closely with facility veterinarians, animal care staff and others. Given the nature of the work, varying and long hours are to be expected.

Qualifications/Experience:
Qualifications include B.S. and/or M.S. in biological or neurosciences; previous lab management experience; excellent computer, record keeping, interpersonal and communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates possessing experience with non-human primates, behavioral management and animal surgery.
