Position Description:
This is a tenure track faculty position with a rank of assistant professor in ecology. It requires a PhD in ecology/conservation biology or an equivalent area and promise of teaching excellence in ecology. Other courses to be taught could include introductory biology, microbiology, scientific process, or integration of biological principles to total 12 hours per semester. The ability to teach field methods and conservation biology will be a plus. Establishing a robust research program in the candidate’s area of expertise is essential.

Qualifications/Experience:
Ph.D. in a Biological Science with strong background in ecology, conservation biology, and field methods. ABDs will be considered for appointment in a non-tenure track at the rank of instructor if all degree requirements are not completed by the expected start date of August 17, 2009

Evidence of excellence in teaching and a strong commitment to student learning and development

Evidence of an ability to establish an independent research program that will include both graduate and undergraduate students.

Evidence of exceptional interpersonal skills and strong personal ethics for mentorship of student research projects

Salary/funding:
Salary dependent upon qualifications.

Term of Appointment:
A nine-month, full-time, tenure track appointment with the option of summer employment if funds are available.Position begins August 17, 2009.
