Position Description:
Cambridge Scientific is seeking a Biological Sciences Laboratory Technician to work on-site with a leading research facility in Frederick, MD!

Candidates with experience working with nonhuman primates in a research laboratory setting strongly preferred.

Duties:

-Assist in handling and monitoring of nonhuman primates.
-Bleeding and inoculations of nonhuman primates.
-Perform experiments as instructed with mice.
Inoculation of mice with virus and/or drug and/or other materials as needed.
-Safe handling of mice.
-Euthanasia and necropsy of mice – including collection of tissues for processing.
-Bleeding of mice.
-Perform experiments as instructed with guinea pig.
-Inoculation of guinea pigs with virus and/or drug and/or other materials as needed.
-Safe handling of guinea pigs.
-Euthanasia and necropsy of guinea pigs – including collection of tissues for processing.
-Bleeding of guinea pigs.
-Perform CBC, general chemistries, coagulation assays and other clinical laboratory based assays on samples from animals.
-Assist in the preparation of materials from animals for various assays.
-Perform basic cell culture, plaque assays, PCR and other assays as needed to support animal’s studies.

Qualifications/Experience:
-B.S required, with emphasis in biological or microbiological sciences.
-Extensive relevant experience in biological laboratory. Minimum 2-3 years experience working with animals or in a laboratory preferred.
-Experience working with nonhuman primates STRONGLY desired. Experience with other laboratory small animals (i.e. mice and guinea pigs) also preferred.
-Experience in cell culture, PCR, virology and flow cytometry would also be beneficial.
-Must have experience in BSL-3 laboratory. Work in a Biosafety Level 3 or 4 (BSL-3 and BSL-4) laboratory is a requirement for this position.
-A confidentiality agreement must be signed.
-Special immunizations may be required.
-Must be a U.S. citizen

Salary/funding:
Approximately $45-55K/yr
