Position Description:
I am seeking a position of field assistant or similar working on primate research. I wish to gain knowledge and experience in research methods with a view to undertake a PhD. I am particularly interested in great apes and opportunities in Africa but am open to projects in Asia and South America.
I am fully bilingual in French and English, have GCSE level German and Welsh and beginners' Spanish.

Educational Background:
Zoology BSc (hons.): predicted 1st.
Swansea University, Wales, United Kingdom.

• 3rd year project: A 7,500 word dissertation on affiliative relationships among captive Bonobos (Pan paniscus) with particular focus on the role of socio-sexual behaviour in these interindividual relationships. Statistical analysis of the data was carried out as well as an extensive literature search in the relevant field.
Oral presentation of project to fellow students and academic staff.

• Undergraduate modules of relevance: Animal Behaviour, Behaviour in Conservation and Welfare, Behavioural Ecology, Animals & Habitats Field Course, Ecology Field Course, Animal Physiology, Immunology, Parasitology, Molecular Ecology and Microbiology.

Qualifications/Experience:
- Three weeks spent in Twycross Zoo (England) carrying out behavioural observation and data collection on a group of Bonobos (Pan paniscus).

- Three weeks travelling alone in Tanzania and Zanzibar.

- Two years teaching English in France to both adults and children.

July 2008 for a duration of up to 1 year.

Comments:
Highly motivated and passionate about wildlife, natural history and conservation, with particular sensitivity to the vulnerability of certain primate species. I work well alone or in a group, am confident and out-going and have very good contact skills.
