Position Description:
These positions are based at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center- Lawrenceville Field Station location. This facility is about 30 miles NE of The Emory University main campus.
The position of Animal Care Technician is responsible for the daily husbandry and care of our primate population. Specifically this involves the feeding, cleaning, observation, and enrichment of the animals and care of the facility.
This position will require working outdoors and working in all types of weather situations.

FLSA:* Non-Exempt Monthly: $1,808.33
Grade: 223 Annually: $21,700.00
*This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs routine duties associated with animal care in a research setting. Prepares food and feeds animals, maintains sanitary conditions, observes animal conditions and behavior, and collects animal specimens. May assist in animal restraint, maintaining animal housing and minor cage maintenance. Performs related responsibilities as required. Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of animal husbandry or related animal care experience OR two years of animal husbandry experience in a laboratory animal facility. The ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Learns to perform routine duties associated with animal care in a research setting such as feeding, administering medication, maintaining sanitary conditions, observation, restraint and minor cage maintenance. Operates cage washers and ensures that equipment is in proper working order. May assist in the collection of blood, urine and feces from animals for medical research. Performs related responsibilities as required. Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The ability to read and write and to lift up to 75 pounds. Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
