Field Assistant for Primate Research

Position Description:
I am a Ph.D. student conducting foraging experiments with wild samango and vervet monkeys at the Lajuma Research Center, South Africa. Beginning in May 2008, I need field assistants to set up food trays at 7am and sieve and count peanuts from foraging trays at 4pm on a regular basis. Alternative work could be following troops to habituate them or track home ranges. If you have your own project you'd like to do, this work could easily be combined with focal sampling, etc. or whatever data you would like to collect.

Qualifications/Experience:
No training or experience necessary, but must be willing and able to do serious day hiking through thorny Acacia habitat.

Support provided for internship/volunteer positions (travel, meals, lodging):
Sorry, none at this time. If I receive funding, I will provide some level of support. I will also make pizza for you!

Term of Appointment:
Flexible. Any length of time betwen May 1 - August 20, 2008.
