WNPRC Now Accepting Applications for Lawrence Jacobsen Conservation Research Award

The Lawrence Jacobsen WNPRC Conservation Research Award supports studies in applied conservation biology that protect non-human primate species and their habitat. Students and/or faculty working in the field of primate conservation are welcome to apply; applicants must be affiliated with a university, college, or non-governmental organization (NGO).

Grant applications for the 2012 award should be received no later than January 1, 2012; interested applicants may apply online using the form at http://pin.primate.wisc.edu/jacobsen/application.php. More information is available here.

New Web Portal Assists Researchers working with Nonhuman Primates

Wisconsin National Primate Research Center (WNPRC) announced the release of Primate Portal, a new website that provides information for biomedical researchers who work, or plan to work, with the nonhuman primate as a human disease model.

The Primate Portal contains detailed information about programs and facilities funded by the National Institutes of Health, including the eight National Primate Resesarch Centers, to aid researchers in finding resources such as funding, collaborators, animal colonies, and testing facilities.

The Primate Portal may be customized by the user to provide current information regarding grant opportunities, research articles, meetings and news stories in a specific research area. The Primate Portal also contains hundreds of links to other organizations engaged in biomedical research, categorized by disease model, described with abstracts, and searchable through an in-depth assignment of metadata terms.

Researchers interested in primate research are invited to visit the Primate Portal and create a user account at no cost.
