Position: Professor in Comparative Developmental Psychology, and Director, Center for the Study of Emotion
Areas of interest: I am interested in developmental issues in primates,especially humans and the great apes. I study the development of communication (gestural and intentional), of behavior, of social cognition, of self-recognition, of imitation, and of emotion.
Species of interest: Gorilla (gorilla), Pan troglodytes (common chimpanzee), Pan paniscus (bonobo), Pongo (orangutan)
