Mission: To improve the welfare of animals by studying their behavior and needs, making rational judgments and giving expert advice on how particular species should be cared for and managed.

Publications: UFAW publishes the international scientific quarterly journal "Animal Welfare", holds symposia and workshops and publishes technical information on all aspects of animal welfare. The "UFAW Handbook on the Care and Management of Laboratory Animals" is the standard work on the subject and is now in its 6th edition.
