Gorilla Organization (Established 1989)
Director: Jillian Miller
Mission: The Gorilla Organization's mission is to secure the survival of the world's last gorillas in the wild. This is achieved through a programme that supports more than twenty long-term poverty alleviation and environmental education projects in the poor communities close to the gorilla habitat, providing local people with viable alternatives to the unsustainable use of the forest and its resources. Principal Research Programs: The Gorilla Organization is directly involved in the Mount Tshiaberimu Conservation Project and the Walikale Community Gorilla Reserve, both in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
