Gesellschaft fur Primatologie (Established 1989)
Goettingen , Germany

Mission: The Gesellschaft fuer Primatologie is a forum for people interested in (nonhuman) primates. The purpose of the society is to support research on and about primates, in the field as well as in the laboratory; and to care for the conservation and well-being of nonhuman primates in the wild and in captivity. The society works towards an integration of experimental approaches with field studies, supports a close collaboration of researchers from origin countries, and aims to promote young researchers in primatological research. Furthermore, the society takes part in the discourse between science and society, and has a strong interest in policy making (animal care taking and husbandry, use of primates in biomedical research etc.).
