Mission: IPR is a primate sanctuary located in Polokwane, South Africa. We take in primates in need from all over the world and provide them with permanent sanctuary care. Some of these primates have been used for clinical trials or rescued from the exotic pet trade. We currently house over 70 monkeys including Marmosets, Tamarins, Squirrel Monkeys and Mona Monkeys.

We are planning a move to the Gauteng Province in order to expand the sanctuary and take in more primates. With your support we can improve the facilities for our existing primates and expand to rescue primates throughout the world facing uncertain futures and appalling living conditions.

Principal Research Programs: We take in short and long-term volunteers from all over the world. No qualifications are necessary, our volunteer placements are ideally suited to students looking for work experience with primates or an interest in their behaviour or to those looking for a career break.

Volunteer fees are 150 GBP per week, this includes all food and accommodation.
See www.iprescue.org or email Sue at s.a@iprescue.org for more information.

Training Opportunities: Volunteer workers are welcome to spend some time at the sanctuary, helping to care for the monkeys, while studying their behaviour. Please contact Sue Mousley for more information. The email address is s.a@iprescue.org

Financial Aid: We do not provide financial aid at this stage. Those looking for a long-term volunteer placement are not required to pay for food or accommodation (email s.a@iprescue.org)

Number of Staff: 1

Associated Field Sites: We are currently located near Polokwane in the Limpopo province of South Africa but are hoping to relocate to the Gauteng province. We will require volunteers at both sites to care for the primates and build new enclosures.

Publications: We have regular website updates, see www.iprescue.org for more information
