Mission: To promote the protection, preservation, and propagation of gorillas and other endangered species; To study in depth the behavioral and linguistic development of the great apes; To become a primary source of information on the gorilla species, and disseminate that information through public and private educational programs; To identify and implement the optimum conditions for gorillas' care.

Principal Research Programs: Long-term behavioral and interspecies communication study of western lowland gorillas; Establishment of a semi-free-living gorilla preserve
