Mission: To support animal experiments, including supplying animals to the faculty of medicine in the Shiga University of Medical Science. Principal Research Programs: 1) Investigation of artifical insemination(AI), in-vitro fertilization-embryo transfer(IVF-ET), and intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI-ET) in the establishment of indoor artificial breeding methodology for the Japanese monkey and Crab-eating monkey; 2)Establishment of iPS cell lines of the Crab-eating monkey; 3) Establishment of emburyonic stem(ES) cell lines of the Japanese monkey and the Crab-eating monkey; 4) Production of trasnsgenic monkey by nuclear transfer using gene transfered ES cells Training Opportunities: Educational opportunities available for: Undergraduate, Graduate, Professional; Field work opportunities not available; Program emphasis: Reproductive physiology; Financial support occasionally available Number of Staff: 18 Supported Species: 680 Macaca fascicularis (long-tailed macaque), 60 Macaca fuscata (Japanese macaque), 6 Macaca mulatta (rhesus macaque) Last Updated: 2009-03-18 [Edit Entry] [Delete Entry] [Search IDP] |
