Principal Research Programs: Research on macaques has been associated with two famous discoveries - the Rh factor in blood and the Salk anti-polio vaccine. Current research using macaques involves diagnostic virology, toxicology and teratology, reproductive physiology and contraceptive endocrinology. In Australia, the current use of macaques is in the areas of neuroscience, immunology and transplantation research.
