Mission: Preservation and study of endangered prosimians through research, education, and conservation. Research includes the study of osteological and cadaver specimens as well as an extensive collection of fossils. Research includes but is not limited to: captive breeding, nutrition, social organization, biomechanics, genomics, cognitive studies, systematics, physiology, feeding adaptations, and special senses. Conservation includes but is not limited to: (1) The study of wild populations for baseline information; (2) Breeding rare species at Duke and in Madagascar; and (3) Reintroducing rare species to protected areas in Madagascar. The Center also has a commitment to increasing participation in collaborative sustainable development programs in Madagascar.
